Three final candidates have been named for the position of executive director of Public Safety and chief of police, left open by Brian McPike in August 2016. Marc Pino, interim chief of police, has held the position as the search for a permanent director was conducted.
Each candidate will hold open campus forums. Evaluations will be available for each candidate.
Pino joined the UCCS police department in 2004 and has initiated several programs aimed at increasing student safety and awareness. Pino collaborated with MOSAIC to implement the program Moving Forward Through Violent Times, which discusses the impacts of recent events on diverse communities.
Pino anticipates graduating with his master’s in public administration from UCCS this December.
Buckley is police lieutenant of the Colorado Springs Police Department, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree earned from UCCS. She oversees 58 total employees.
Within her position, Buckley manages federal grants, conducts research and reviews and audits general orders and standard operating procedures. She also notes extensive public speaking experience in her position as a public information officer.
Ribeiro is the chief of police for the Manitou Springs Police Department. He served in several positions with the Norfolk Police Department in Virginia for more than 20 years and the police department in Vail, Colo .
He has had several positions of leadership and with emergency and incident management. He has cooperated with Federal Incident Management Teams and with the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
