A breakdown of general student fees

Registration is open for summer and fall classes, and any student who registers for classes will have to pay semesterly fees.

UCCS’ Student Financial Services and Bursar Office provide an in-depth breakdown of the tuition rates, general fees and course and program fees.

According to a document from the Student Financial Services and Bursar Office, an incoming freshman taking 15 credit hours in the fall or spring would pay $1,358.52 in student fees.

If fees do not change, a student taking this amount of credit hours for four years, which is the workload needed to graduate in that time frame, would pay $9,888.16 in fees if they enrolled only in the fall and spring.

These numbers assume that the student stays opted into the Textbook Affordability and Access Program, which is the only fee a student can opt out of.

Some of these fees are one-time fees, some of them are calculated per credit hour and some are general fees paid every semester.

One-Time General Fees

The one-time matriculation fee, student ID fee, orientation fee and general fees are mandatory and apply to all undergraduate students. Students are individually charged additional program fees depending on their choice of program enrollment.

  • Matriculation Fee – $25: This is a one-time, non-refundable fee, and it is mandatory for all new students and transfer students. It is assessed during registration at the time of initial enrollment and covers establishing a permanent record of academic work at UCCS.
  • Student ID Card Fee – $15: All students and faculty are required to have a UCCS ID card, and new students are billed automatically. Transfer students from other CU campuses or students needing a replacement are required to pay the fee at the time the card is made.
  • Orientation Fee – $100: The orientation program charges a fee on student accounts to provide program staffing and materials, not for profit; it is assessed once the student attends orientation or initiates online orientation and is enrolled in at least one class.

Per Credit Hour General Fees

These fees are individually assessed to students depending on how many credit hours they are enrolled in for the semester.

  • Student Recreation Fee – $1.14 per credit hour: The Gallogly Recreation Center uses this fee, which is mandatory for all undergraduate students, to support recreation programs, activities and use of the fitness center at no additional charge. Programs may require a small participation fee.
