It’s finals season: the time in which every student on campus is overstressed and under-slept. Preserve your sanity in these trying times by studying anywhere but your room. Here are some of the best places to study on campus.
- The Kraemer Family Library
Toward the end of the semester, the library becomes the home base for finals studying. If you enjoy ambient noise and palpable tension when studying, the second-floor study spaces are perfect for you. If, like me, you enjoy spaces so quiet you are scared to breathe, then the tables on the third floor are where you need to be. Grab a spot near a window and enjoy beautiful views of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods. If you need a quiet space to work in a group, then you can reserve a study room.
- The Ent Center
If you are not a VAPA major, chances are you have never stepped foot in the Ent Center for the Arts, but it’s my favorite study spot on campus. The first floor is full of comfortable seating and floor-to-ceiling windows. If you are not scared of theater majors, you can venture to the second floor and sit on one of the many couches up there. The Ent Center is full of enough natural light to stave off the existential academic dread of finals.
- Cragmor Lawn
If you have the strength and determination to study outside, the Cragmor Lawn is the place to go. It is a beautiful green space with massive trees and a breathtaking view of Pikes Peak. There is just enough foot traffic and bustle in the area to keep your brain moving too, as well as cute squirrels running in the trees.
- The University Center
Not only does the University Center have a bookstore and cafe, it also has little study nooks scattered around. Wander around the UC and find a couch or table that makes your study heart happy. When you’re hungry you can always pick a table in Cafe 65 or by Big Cat Coffee. If you like a little discovery in your studying, the UC is perfect for you.
- The Excel Center
The Excel Centers across campus are wonderful study spots that also provide you with direct help. Whether your final consists of math, science, writing or language, the Excel Center has resources to support you. You’ll find an atmosphere that encourages you to fully become the academic weapon that you are.
Ditch the dorm room! Study at a new spot on campus and crush those finals. Good luck!
