Livi with the Stars: October’s major celestial events remind us to reflect before acting

Welcome back to Livi with the Stars. We’ve officially passed the autumnal solstice, which is a perfect time to reflect on the past months and assess how to spend the rest of the year.

The first week of October starts off with the Libra new moon solar eclipse on Oct. 2. In a solar eclipse, Earth is directly between the Sun and Moon. The new moon is a monthly reminder for self-reflection. Paired with the Sun in the sign of Libra, it is time to touch base with yourself and realign your goals before the year ends.

Libra is the peace-making sign of the zodiac, but this may lead to indecision, especially with the solar eclipse. Mercury, the ruler of communication, will square the Sun and Moon in Libra on the same day. This negative aspect may lead to impulsive decisions. So, plan and figure things out now before the hectic energy at the end of this week. If it comes to a drastic decision on Oct. 6, remember to stay grounded and try to weigh out both sides of the scale before deciding.

On Oct. 9, Jupiter enters retrograde until February 2025. Jupiter is the ruler of growth, and by going into retrograde it aligns with the current energy of the month to reassess ideals.

Retrograde has some negative connotations around it, but it’s a great time to practice introspection as midterms come up. Ask yourself if you’re understanding your classes, or if your degree is living up to your goals. Plus, October is the best time to reflect on your ideals, as the election rolls around.

After five months in retrograde, Pluto goes direct on Oct. 12. This will finalize Pluto’s transition to Aquarius for the next 19 years and bring a new era to the world through technological innovation. Since Pluto has been in and out of Aquarius due to retrograde starting in March 2023, we’ve already seen a peak of this modern age with the advent of AI. When Pluto changes signs there are often big historical events, so it will be interesting to see how that will play out in the next month.

The Full Moon will be Oct. 17 in Aries. This moon will be important after all the questioning and reflection, as it may bring forth answers and stability. The Aries energy will provide better judgement to help answer personal questions. Yet, Aries energy can also tend to be aggressive or pushy. Remember to be patient as life ebbs and flows.

On Oct. 23 the sun enters Scorpio season. Scorpio energy is often misunderstood. With the impulsive energy from earlier this month, I suggest making compromises where you may be stubborn. Hard decisions will have to be made. Reflecting on your personal morals in the early part of October will allow you to have a strong stream of consciousness by the end of October.

This time of self-reflection and major change coincides with preparation for major upcoming decisions. For instance, UCCS students anticipate midterms halfway through the semester, and we are deciding on who and what to vote for as the election draws near. Pluto’s zodiac shift ushers the world on its way to its next era of culture and technology.
