PHOTOSPREAD | Men’s basketball gets narrow victory over Western Colorado, 68-64 

A hard-fought battle ended in triumph for the men’s basketball team as they defeated Western Colorado University, 68-64, on Jan. 30. 

The Mountain Lions started the game off strong, scoring first. They ended the first half with a 1-point lead. With just a minute left in the second half, the Mountain Lions and Mountaineers were tied up 59-59. Free throws by guard Hannes Saar, point guard Xavier Martinez and forward William Becker secured a 68-64 victory. 

Martinez led the team, scoring 20 points, followed by Becker with 13 points.  

The Mountain Lions go on the road for their next three games, starting at South Dakota Mines on Feb. 6.
