Sherpa Garden Restaurant Bar and Grill exceeds customers’ expectations by giving them a quality dining experience.
Located less than 15 minutes from UCCS, Sherpa Garden serves as an ideal place to have delicious Tibetan and Nepalese cuisine. Owned by Kandu and Pasang Sherpa, originally from Nepal, the restaurant offers locals authentic meals and culture.
The restaurant “strives to share [the] ancient culture of community sharing of meals and goodwill with [customers],” according to their website.
The restaurant was clean and inviting, and the decor was gorgeous. The walls are painted in wine red and draped with authentic Asian artwork, tapestries and Dharma Trumpets. The restaurant is furnished with relics, including a Tibetan Sherpa blanket that is over 100 years old.
When you first step into Sherpa Garden, you are immediately met with an aroma of sweet and savory cuisine. The large windows allow for sunlight to stream in and brighten the space. The floors are clean and the tables are pre-set. You are permitted to sit wherever you please.
When I was seated, a friendly waitress brought complimentary glasses of water, lentil soup and a menu.
I ordered the Tibetan noodles ($10.99). The dish included homemade noodles sautéed with fresh vegetables. The food was not imitated and felt authentic. I also ordered a Chai tea, which was one of the best quality teas I’ve had.
Appetizers included choices like Papadams, Momo, Saag Dip and Sherpa Rolls.
They serve entrees such as Curry, Korma, Vindaloo and Tandoori Chicken. You are given a choice of meats with respective dishes, and you can choose between chicken, beef, shrimp, lamb and salmon.
Drinks included sodas, lemonade, chai tea and more. American foods like hamburgers and French fries are also offered.
Various breads also adorn the menu; Naan bread is offered with every meal. The prices range from as little as $2.99 for drinks to $15.99 for certain entrees and specials.
There is a selection of alcoholic beverages for those over the age of 21. I took note of the selections and saw various options such as Heineken, Dos Equis and mixed drinks.
The prices were reasonable, the food itself was delicious and I left feeling better for the experience.
Sherpa Garden is definitely a restaurant I would recommend to anyone looking to dine at an authentic Asian food restaurant. I can’t wait to visit again soon.
