Winter weather wreaked havoc across Colorado last week, forcing games to be rescheduled and canceled.
Just two sports hit the road. Men’s and women’s track and field and baseball embarked on the hour drive to Colorado School of Mines to compete on April 17.
Track and Field teams post 4 event wins, 1 provisional qualifying mark
In advance of the RMAC Outdoor Championships, the track and field teams sent a flight of athletes to the Mines Midweek Meet #2 on April 17. The 1-day meet saw 4 event wins and 1 provisional qualifying mark for UCCS:

Baseball split weather-impacted series
A 4-game series for the Mountain Lions saw a plethora of schedule adjustments.
Originally scheduled over three days, the winter forecast forced the 4-game series to be played with a doubleheader on April 17 and April 18. After spring-like conditions on April 17, the snow and below-freezing temperatures arrived overnight to postpone and eventually cancel the second half of the series.
The Mountain Lions were shut out in game 1 after failing to put up a run, 8-0.
UCCS put up their first run of the day in the second inning of game 2, putting the game at 1-0. In the fourth inning, 3 singles and a double extended UCCS’ lead to 5-0. Colorado School of Mines put up 4 runs late in the game, but UCCS maintained a 2-run lead to win, 6-4.
Two series remain in the regular season. Baseball will play at MSU Denver from April 25 to April 27. They will return home for the last series of the season, a black out weekend, on May 1 against CSU Pueblo.
