SGA passed one of two winter formal bills and discussed creating an associate director of finance position at the Nov. 13 Senate meeting.
Winter Formal bill
Senator-at-large, Catalina Clay, proposed a bill for the UCCS Winter Formal, requesting $3,917.46. The bill covers renting the Ent Center, audio, lighting and labor for setting up the venue. The bill was approved unanimously.
A second bill will be proposed at a future Senate meeting to cover the cost of alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks and shuttle services.
New Associate Director of Finance position
SGA discussed creating a new associate director of finance position in response to this semester’s impeachment.
The associate director would report directly to the director of finance and serve as proxy on the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC), if the director of finance isn’t available, to prevent disruption to the funding process.
The position would be elected separately from the director of finance, although the Director of Finance Josh Mathias argued the positions should be elected together since they do the same job.
According to Mathias, the position is a reaction to the Director of Finance’s absence, which may or may not happen. He suggested a “deputy” position rather than an associate to separate the existing and new positions more clearly.
BAC will vote on whether or not to create the position next semester.
