If your brain is hurting from all the studying you’ve been doing for finals, take a break and play some video games at the Indie Games Showcase.
The Game Design & Development Program (GDD) is hosting their second annual Indie Games Showcase on May 9 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will take place in the Upper Lodge.
Video games will include senior capstone projects, games developed in team-based game production classes and games made by local indie developers. Showcased games will be developed by either students or Colorado developers, but anyone is welcome to attend.
According to GDD Program Coordinator and Associate Teaching Professor Christopher Malec, over 20 games have been registered to be exhibited. Games will include singleplayer, multiplayer, 2-D, 3-D, virtual card, puzzle, horror and more.
The Upper Lodge will be divided into an exhibition floor where attendees can play the games created by student or indie developers and a presentation space that will include an award ceremony. Attendees are able to vote for various awards online.
In addition to playing the games, players are encouraged to interact with the creators, according to Malec.
Students can RSVP through Mountain Lion Connect.
