Amazon Web Services (AWS) began experiencing network connectivity issues early Monday morning that have led to essential UCCS online platforms, namely Canvas, being down.
AWS is a cloud hosting service that is used to host online platforms like websites and apps.
According to NBC News, the problem was first reported at 3:11 a.m and has persisted through the rest of the day. The error stemmed from an internal subsystem that’s responsible for monitoring the health of network load balancers, which are responsible for distributing traffic across different servers.
According to Jenna Press, the director of communication, there is no way to know how long the outage will last, but Canvas will remain down until service is restored.
