How to get the most from intramural sports this semester

Intramural sports are about to begin this semester and here’s how you can get the most out of them!

The Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center offers a total of eight intramural sports or events. These are listed on the Intramurals Rec page here, and include basketball, cornhole, flag football, indoor soccer, March Madness, esports events (such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros tournaments), ultimate frisbee and volleyball.

Depending on the sport or event, students can form teams with friends. Beyond the opportunity to exercise, intramural sports also offer a way to meet new people with common interests and play in an atmosphere not centered on competition.

Students can also register alone as free agents for team sports, and the Rec Center will attempt to accommodate and place them as needed. However, the Rec Center does not guarantee placement for free agents.

Every sport or event costs $8 per player. For those who want to play more than once in a semester, the Rec Center offers Sports Passes for $15 to play on an unlimited basis. Students can purchase these passes at the Rec Center or on their fusion website. For more information on the steps involved to register, please see this page.

The sports can be mixed gender so there are no restrictions on who can play with who. They also have men’s and women’s divisions, depending on the sport.

Interested students must sign a digital waver and pass the assigned sports quiz given during the registration process. Students who play a sport professionally at UCCS cannot participate in the intramural counterpart.

For questions on intramural sports or the registration process, you can get more information at the Campus Recreation Office, by emailing [email protected] or contacting 719-255-7515.
