UCCS transitions to new content management system
Web Services has decided to try a new server environment.
UCCS webpages will migrate online content from the Ingeniux content management system to Drupal, beginning with the School of Public Affairs, among a handful of other departments.
Drupal is thought to be a more stable open-source content management software, already in use by CU Boulder. The migration of all UCCS web contentis hoped to be completed by early 2018.
UCCS websites will not be redesigned during this process, but training will be provided for campus members who manage UCCS websites.
UCCS faculty, staff salary information made public
Senate Bill 17-40 was signed into law in June, making changes to the Colorado Open Records Act. One of these changes could result in a higher level of transparency of UCCS faculty and staff salaries.
This change will allow media organizations to request online data, such as salary information, for the purpose of analysis. Other records made public include department meeting minutes, public funds expenditures and email correspondence.
“The Bluffs” TV series to feature “Back to the Future” replica
The fourth season of “The Bluffs” will offer members of the campus a chance to participate in the recreation of a scene from the 1985 movie “Back to the Future” on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The scene, currently in need of volunteer extras, will include a replica of the DeLorean-based time machine and free pizza for participants.
The award-winning series is produced and filmed by David Nelson, chair of the Department of Communication, communication lecturer Jeff Dempsey and students enrolled in the digital filmmaking track.
Library collection review process will involve student feedback
Martin Garnar, dean of the Kraemer Family Library, spoke to the Student Government Association on Sept. 28 to create a student-run advisory board. This board will refine the library’s print collection.
The advisory board would also provide feedback on services that should be available to students, as well as how to use library space.
The library will also request feedback from students via survey in the spring semester about what materials are valued or not by the student body. This feedback will be used to inform the library’s evaluation of the print collection.
