Spring enrollment numbers rise to new highs

    According to UCCS Communique, the UCCS spring semester enrollment figures grew by 2 percent from 2017, amounting to an increase of 206 students, with 143 of them going into the graduate program.

    The Office of Institutional Research published the numbers following the Jan. 31 census date, and will publish the rest of the statistics, including student nationality and home state or home country in the coming week.

 

Winter Olympic Events on campus

    On Feb. 7 at 5 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on the South Korea Olympic Games hosted by the UCCS Global Intercultural Research Center, the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative and the UCCS Center for Critical Sports Studies, the event will discuss the almost 30 years leading up to these games and what South Korea changed since the Olympics were last hosted there, and the political implications of hosting the games in such a place of international tension. The panel is hosted in UC 116 and is free, and the RSVP form can be found on communique.uccs.edu.

 

Derrick White to return to campus for jersey retirement

    Derrick White, the first UCCS athlete to be picked in the NBA draft, will return to campus Feb. 17 in order to attend a jersey retirement ceremony in the Gallogly Events Center during the pregame against MSU Denver.

    Picked No. 29 overall, White is the highest drafted player in the history of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

    White will be signing autographs from 6 to 7 p.m. in Berger Hall before going to the events center at 7:30 p.m.
