Mountain Lions women’s soccer defeated St. Mary’s on Sept. 12, 2-0, to earn their first outright win this season.
They drew with Western Oregon University on Sept. 5 in their first game this season.
The UCCS offense was firing on all cylinders with 16 total shots and eight shots on goal. Goalkeeper #0 Alexa Malaspina had six saves. Midfielder #11 Fie Steenberg scored UCCS’ first goal in the 48th minute with an assist from #8 Emily Aguilar. Steenberg assisted forward #13 Jessica Rockwell for UCCS’ second goal in the 61st minute.
Following the St. Mary’s victory, women’s soccer tied. Their next home game is today at 7 p.m. against Cal State-Dominguez Hills. The team will then go to California for their Saturday game against Point Loma Nazarene at 12:30 p.m.
