After splitting the first two games, the Mountain Lions defended home court and beat New Mexico Highlands, 3-1, for their first home victory in the RMAC.
The Sept. 27 match up ended with UCCS winning the first set before falling to New Mexico Highlands in the second and then bouncing back in the third and fourth to secure the match.
Freshman outside hitter #4 Payton Tompkins scored a team-high of 14 kills. Outsider hitters #6 Sydnee Walker and #14 Emily Pruitt rounded out the team’s top three scorers with 13 and 10 kills each.
The team is standing at a 7-5 overall record and are 2-2 in the RMAC.
The Mountains Lions have four more matches before their next home volleyball game on Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. The team has a home winning streak of five matches, according to the UCCS athletics website.
