UCCS women’s soccer defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills, 4-3 on Sept. 18, taking initial control of the game until Cal State Dominguez Hills started racking up goals late in the second period.
The Mountain Lions overwhelmingly outshot Cal State Dominguez Hills, 10-2, in the first period, but UCCS was outshot in the next.
Midfielder #8 Emily Aguilar scored two goals for UCCS in the 6th and 9th minutes. Midfielder #7 Taylynn Levi scored a penalty kick goal in the 67th minute. Freshman forward #16 Brooke Pavlich scored the Mountain Lion’s final goal in the 74th minute before Cal State Dominguez Hills began their scoring spree in the closing moments of the game.
After the win against Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Mountain Lions lost 2-5 to defending NCAA Division II national champions Point Loma Nazarene on Sept. 21. Women’s soccer now stand with a record of two wins, two ties and two losses.
The team plays their first RMAC match of the season at Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 27 and return home on Oct. 3 to line up against Colorado Christian.
