SGA unanimously passed the budget for the 2026 fiscal year at the senate meeting.
Director of Finance Robin Levisky authored and presented the budget bill at the meeting on April 17. According to Levisky, most of the budget was copied from the previous year’s budget.
“This is probably the most boring budget you will see in SGA,” they said.
SGA is set to receive the same budget they did in the 2025 fiscal year, $672,149, despite the 2.5% CPI increase. The budget includes a $12,000 reallocation from reserves to pay for the SGA Office, Marketing and Resource Manager student employee position.
Club Funding
SGA allocated $150,000 to clubs and organizations, the same that was allocated for the 2024-25 school year. Clubs can access up to $4,000 in club funding from BAC each fiscal year. Clubs are also able to request up to $100 in funding from Student Life via Club Cash, which was allocated $2,500 in next year’s budget.
For the past two fiscal years, SGA has run out of club funding at the end of the fall semester, and, in the spring, reallocated from its reserves to fund clubs. Former Director of Finance Amanda Ford credited this to a rise in club activity, according to previous Scribe reporting.
For the second year, Roar Days has been allocated $20,000. In the past, the week-long series of events was funded by bills passed by senate. BAC allocates money from this fund to clubs participating in Roar Days based on their proposals. This year, SGA collaborated with Mosaic and multicultural clubs on campus to host six events. They spent $8,998.62 of the $20,000 allocated.
SGA Events
Events and bills were allocated $30,000 this year, equal to last year’s budget line.
SGA spent a total of $30,829.53 on events and bills this past fiscal year, including GAR. SGA allocated $15,924.12 in the fall and $14,905.41 in the spring; this was $5,351.23 less than they allocated the prior fiscal year.
The most expensive event was the Winter Formal, costing $8,408.19, including GAR. These calculations do not reflect any funds that may have not been used and were returned to the SGA’s reserve fund, the CarryForward fund.
The student concert was allocated $232.02 more than last year’s budget, bringing it to $70,232.02.
Student Life
Student Life received a $13 decrease in their funding, bringing it down to $181,482. SGA allocates money to the student life office to aid with their operating expenses.
SGA allocated $48,620 to Clyde’s Cupboard, the student food pantry at UCCS. Galleries of Contemporary Art was allocated $12,500. Both of these allocations are the same as last year.
SGA Operations
SGA Recognition, the stipend SGA members are paid for their service at the end of each semester, was allocated $35,488 — the same amount as the previous two fiscal years. An additional $5,000 stipend was allocated to be split evenly among SGA members that serve on the Budget Advisory Committee.
The SGA Executive Branch received $1,000 and the SGA Judicial Branch received $7,000, the same amount they received in the past two fiscal years.
The SGA Office, Marketing and Resource Manager, a student-employee position paid for by SGA, was allocated $34,000, an increase from last year’s $20,077.35. The position helps manage clerical and financial work for the organization. Levisky said this increase in funding is due to plans to split the position into two positions.
The Public Relations Committee, which handles PR materials such as shirts and sweatshirts for SGA members, received $2,000. Equal to the last two years, $700 was allocated to SGA graduation stoles.
The Summer Committee received $2,000, the same amount as the past two fiscal years. The committee develops plans for the next academic year over the summer. Professional development was allocated $8,000. This money allows some SGA members to travel to leadership conferences.
SGA administration received $2,000, double what they received last year. This goes toward printing and operation costs for SGA.
SGA again set aside $4,500 to help with bad debt expenses. Bad debt occurs when the actual student tuition and fees paid are less than the estimated amount by the university when establishing the budget.
In other news:
- SGA unanimously passed a bill allocating $445.74 to the third annual ClydeCon, an event clothing swap hosted by the Student Clothing Corner. The money will be used to compensate 23 volunteers with UCCS notebooks, stickers and small Clyde stuffed animals. The event encourages sustainability by encouraging students to reuse items and reduce waste. The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the West Lawn on April 25.
- SGA discussed adding a line item to the budget next year for Pause for Paws, a program that brings therapy dogs into KFL during finals season. This would replace the annual $600 bill they pass.
