Men’s and Women’s Soccer
On Feb. 7, the second national signing day took place. Women’s soccer added six athletes to their roster for the 2018-19 season, including two midfield/forwards, two midfielders, one forward and one midfield/ defender. Men’s soccer is adding two athletes, including one midfield/defender and one defender.
Track and Field
Junior Skylyn Webb was named the USTFCCCA Division II Women’s National Athlete of the Week on Feb. 14.
On Feb. 10, both track teams had athletes at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, NM and at the Adams State NCAA Qualifier.
At the Don Kirby Invitational on the women’s side, Webb earned an automatic qualifying time in the 800m with a time of 2:06.20 and a provisional time of 55.43 in the 400m. Senior Molly Klotz earned a provisional time in the 800m with a 2:13.27.
Freshman Kayla Zink earned a provisional time in the 60m with a time of 7.62 seconds in the preliminary and ran another provisional time of 7.65 in the semifinal of the same event.
At Adams State, freshman Kaija Crowe earned a provisional mark in the long jump with a mark of 5.75m while winning the pentathlon. Alexis Carroll won the triple jump with a provisional distance of 11.72m.
At the Don Kirby Invitational on the men’s side, freshman Caleb Simons earned a provisional time of 48.34 in the 400m.
At Adams State, freshman Zaccre Kenward earned a provisional mark of 14.58m in the triple jump. In this same triple jump, sophomore William Ross took second and sophomore Anthony Peter took third for a Mountain Lion sweep.
