Women’s Lacrosse

    The women’s lacrosse team placed No. 9 on the 2018 Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll was announced on Jan. 30.

    The team begins their season on Feb. 15 against Ave Maria in Ave Maria, Fla.

 

Baseball

    On Jan. 29, the baseball team tied with CSU-Pueblo for No. 4 in the Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.

    Three players were also named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team: junior pitcher Colin Cicere, senior infielder Brant Chapin and senior outfielder Zach Hall.

 

Track and Field

    The women’s track and field team placed No. 1 at the Colorado Mines DII Challenge Jan. 26-27. The men’s team placed No. 2 at the same event.

    Multiple members of the women’s team earned provisional times and marks while one earned an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time.

    Junior sprinter Skylyn Webb earned an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time in the 800m. Webb finished four seconds in front of the second-place finisher with a time of 2:11.90. Her time converts to 2:08.81 based on the altitude, which is the fastest time in all of Division II.

    Webb was named RMAC women’s track athlete of the week on Jan. 30 as well.

    Freshman sprinter Kayla Zink earned a provisional time of 7.66 seconds in the 60m prelims before winning the finals.

    Freshman Alexis Carroll won the triple jump with a provisional mark of 11.87m. Freshman pentathlete Kaija Crowe earned a provisional score in the pentathlon winning with 3,476 points.

    In the distance medley, senior Molly Klotz, freshman Dejah Glover, sophomore Kayla Wooten and Webb placed second earning the nation’s fifth fastest time with a provisional time of 12:09.03.

    Three members of the men’s team earned provisional times and marks.

    Junior middle distance runner William Mayhew earned a provisional time of 1:54.05 in the 800m winning by four seconds.

    Sophomore jumper Derek Valdez earned a provisional mark in the high jump with a height of 2.05m. Freshman jumper Zaccre Kenward also earned a provisional mark in the triple jump with a distance of 14.71m.

    Both teams will competing in the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Feb. 10.
