Staff Picks: Favorite fall traditions

Fall is finally here, and that means it’s time to curl up with one of your science textbooks and stress over upcoming midterms. It could also mean enjoying the season by spending time in nature or enjoying pumpkins.

In this Staff Picks, the Scribe staff share their favorite fall traditions.

Paul Czarnecki | Editor-in-Chief

My favorite fall tradition is watching Thanksgiving Day football with my family and playing street football during the afternoon!

Raven Sanchez | Managing Editor

I don’t really have any fall traditions, but I do try to take at least a few fall photos every year.

Ellie Myers | Associate Editor

One of my favorite things to do when the leaves change is to go downtown, get a hot drink and go for a walk. I love to spend time with the architecture down there, and fall makes it all so much more crisp and beautiful.

Nick Smith | News Editor

My favorite fall tradition is opening up a window, pulling out the window fan and finally enjoying the nice breeze instead of the hot air that turns my room into a sauna.

Luke Swift | Features Editor

Going to Whataburger, and finally getting some of my favorite soup recipes that I haven’t made since early spring!

Kate Marlett | Copy Editor

I got two words for you: candles and pumpkins. No fall evening is complete without an overabundance of mini pumpkins and the ambient glow of the LED candles I bought at Walmart.

Olivia Nordyke | Reporter

I love carving pumpkins and I am very proud of how good I am at it. Last year, I did Frankenstein’s monster and his bride. I’m trying to decide what I’m going to carve this year.

Tori Smith | Reporter

My favorite fall tradition is going up to Anderson Farms! It’s a pumpkin patch/corn maze, and at night they have a hunted corn maze as well. It’s a great way to check off a whole bunch of things on my fall bucket list at once!

Ella Barry | Reporter

I love to go apple picking! It’s the perfect fall tradition because you get to be outside and enjoy the beautiful trees and the cool weather. You also get to go home with all of your yummy apples. When I was a kid, my mom would take all of the apples we’d picked and bake a pie!

Zee O’Donnell | Reporter

Halloween! I love decorating for Halloween and watching all the movies that I feel fit with the holiday! “Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Beetlejuice” are my favorites!

Syanna Santiago-Smith | Reporter

My favorite fall tradition is watching “Practical Magic” with my mom and grandma and getting apple scented candles.

Meghan Germain | Photographer

My favorite fall tradition is driving into the mountains to look at the changing leaves. Every year, I find a new road in Colorado to drive, and I’ll stop at scenic places and take pictures!
