As of Sept. 12, more than 12,422 students are enrolled at UCCS.
Student enrollment has grown from last fall, when 11,995 students were enrolled at UCCS, according to data provided by the Office of Institutional Research.
The UCCS student body has grown by number students since 2013, when student enrollment in the fall totaled 10,598, according to the Office of Institutional Research.
In the last 10 years, the student body has more than doubled. In 2007, 7,715 students were enrolled for the fall semester.
This academic year, the freshman class size has also decreased from fall 2016 by 1.7 percent, or 36 students, for a total of 2,020 students. From fall 2015 to fall 2016, the freshman class grew significantly, by 25 percent or 418 students.
As a whole, the undergraduate class also grew by 250 students to a total of 10,437 students, despite the decrease in the number of freshmen enrollment.
The graduate student body makes up the remaining total of over 12,000 students, having grown by 156 students to reach 1,822 total students. This is a 2.5 percent increase from fall 2016.
Undergraduate majors that have seen an increase in student enrollment since fall 2013 include biology, biochemistry and Electrical Engineering.
Several majors have decreased in student numbers, including anthropology, communication, marketing, chemistry and economics.
Anthropology undergraduate majors have decreased by 41 students since fall 2013. There are 11 fewer chemistry majors this semester than in fall 2013 as well.
Recently added majors that are gaining student numbers include inclusive elementary education and exercise science. Data analytics and systems engineering, offered for the first time this semester, has enrolled six students.
