TAAP, the Textbook Affordability and Access Program, increased its per credit hour membership price to $30 plus tax.
According to previous Scribe reporting, this is a $5 price increase from the fall 2024 semester, which had experienced a $3 increase in comparison to TAAP’s first year of operation.
TAAP is an optional program that gives students access to all required materials for enrolled and waitlisted courses. Students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the program as part of their tuition but can choose to opt-out by each semester’s census date.
According to Paul Deniston, director of retail services, 82% of students remained enrolled in TAAP this semester after the census date on Sept. 11.
Students who remained enrolled have until this Friday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. to pick up any physical materials from the campus Bookstore.
According to the TAAP website, students will relinquish ownership of any materials not picked up by this time and the bookstore will return all remaining materials to the distributors.
Students who chose to opt-out of TAAP can view third-party vendors selling their required materials in their TAAP portal, which offers e-books and physical copies, including new and used copies for purchase and rent.
Since students are automatically enrolled in TAAP, they can access the provided materials until the census date, even if they choose to opt out beforehand. This ensures all students are prepared for the first day of class and allows students to “test drive” the program until the census date, according to the TAAP website.
Students can also sign into their TAAP portal and view their personalized value sheet to determine if TAAP is cost-effective in comparison to third-party sellers before deciding whether or not to opt out.
