Updates on campus services and available mental health services following shooting at UCCS

With an ongoing homicide investigation leaving two dead at UCCS on Friday, Feb. 16, the following services and support are available. 

The campus will remain closed for Feb. 16. 

Here are updates on campus services: 

  • UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services announced via email the campus closure has shifted dining operations. The Lodge will be available for breakfast and lunch from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dinner will be from 5 – 8 p.m. 
  • Cyber Security center will have food as well as counseling services from 12-6.
  • The Roaring Fork, Cafe ‘65, Clyde’s and all Big Cat Coffee shops will remain closed. 

Here is a list of available mental health and emergency services: 

  • Mental health appointments with the Wellness Center can be scheduled by calling 719-255-4444. 
  • The Wellness Center’s crisis walk-ins are open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
  • Free and confidential mental health and wellbeing support is available 24/7 through TELUS Health and SilverCloud. 
  • The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline also offers 24/7 access to trained crisis counselors. You can call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org. 
  • Campus police are available at 719-255-3111 and can also be contacted through the UCCS SAFE app in any emergencies.  

Buses will be running between campus and Cyber Security center today from 12 to 6 p.m., with pickup from the Lodge and Village at Alpine Valley shuttle stops.

Campus will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 17 and Sunday, Feb. 18. Offices, classes, meetings, events, athletics and activities have all been cancelled.
