As students of UCCS, you stand at a critical juncture for our campus, our community and our future. Over the coming days, you will have the chance to shape this campus by using your fundamental right to vote in the SGA election. This is not merely an opportunity to cast a ballot, but an opening to get involved, influence the direction of our university and ensure that your voice is heard.
SGA is a historic organization founded in 1968. For 57 years, SGA has impacted students like you. From the Family Development Center and Shuttle Tracker to the funding process for the Budget Advisory Committee, Winter Formal, Friendsgiving, Narcan test strips, Clyde’s Clothing Corner and Clyde’s Cupboard Funding, SGA directly affects the students of UCCS and our campus community.
SGA plays a vital role in ensuring your voice and needs are met. However, these policies cannot be made without you, the student. Voting and getting involved is not just a privilege; it is an innate obligation in this democratic process that we all must participate in. By voting in this election, you are not just opting for the people who represent you, you are contributing to a vision for the future of this campus.
History has shown that when a community comes together to voice their opinions, they have the power to drive massive change. Through collective action and your votes, you can ensure that this university continues to reflect the values of the community on which it has built itself.
I urge every UCCS student to take the moment to learn about the candidates and make a plan to cast your vote this week.
You can build a UCCS that is stronger and more vibrant with your voice and action. Embrace this responsibility and make your stance known.
