The 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is a document containing information from the 2024 calendar year of policy disclosure, record collection and retention and information dissemination in compliance with the Clery Act.
The security half of the report details criminal offenses, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) offenses, liquor, drug and weapon violations, hate crimes and fire incidents. It also includes unfounded crimes, reported cases that were found to be false or baseless.
The fire safety half of the report details protocols, policies, procedures, a log of fire-protective systems and on-campus housing fire statistics.

Criminal offenses
There were 20 reported sexual assault cases in 2024, 15 of which were rape. This is a significant increase from the four reported rapes in 2023.
In 2024, there were five reports of burglary, seven reports of motor vehicle theft and no reports of robbery.
Burglary involves breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, although a crime does not have to be committed for the perpetrator to be convicted. Robbery is taking a person’s property with the use of force, according to CriminalDefenseLawyer.
There was one report of aggravated assault.
The report also included the murder of Samuel Knopp and Celie Rain Montgomery.
VAWA offenses
VAWA offenses include domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. Domestic violence is any form of abuse that takes place in any relationship, while dating violence refers to abuse that occurs in romantic relationships, according to Fighter Law.
In 2024, there were 20 stalking cases. This reflects a sharp increase from the nine cases in 2022, and 11 cases in 2023.
There were no reports of domestic violence in 2024, but there was one reported case of dating violence which occurred off campus.
There was one unfounded case of domestic violence, and another of stalking.
Liquor, drug and weapon violations
There were seven arrests and 75 disciplinary referrals for liquor law violations in 2024.
There were three arrests and 34 disciplinary referrals for drug law violations in 2024. This is fewer arrests than the four reported in 2023, but a significant increase in disciplinary referrals, which was 25 in 2023.
There was only one arrest for weapon possession and no disciplinary referrals.
Hate crimes
There were six reported cases of hate crimes in 2024 after none were reported the previous year.
Hate-motivated crimes are those committed against someone because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, national origin or disability, according to the report.
There was one case of assault and four intimidation cases, all with racial bias. There was one case of vandalism found to have a religious bias.
Fire
There were no reported fires across Summit Village, Alpine Village or the Village at Alpine Valley in 2024.
Students can report a fire-related incident by calling UCCS Police. Students should always call 911 in case of an emergency.
