Coffee-lovers rejoice — it’s time to break out the holiday drinks we all wish were offered on campus year-round. Starbucks, Dutch Bros and Dunkin all have well-loved holiday drink menus, but it’s time we give our coffee shop a try, too.
Big Cat Coffee has locations in the UC, Columbine and Dwire that have a lot to offer this holiday season. I ordered these three lattes from the Big Cat in the UC on my way to meetings and events this past week. Whether you’re headed to the library to study, on your way to a lecture or looking for a pick-me-up before work, this holiday drink menu is definitely worth trying.
Snickerdoodle Latte – 4.5/5 Stars
The Snickerdoodle Latte was my favorite. Cinnamon always pairs well with coffee, and this latte was certainly no exception. I ordered it cold, but I believe it might be better hot. For only $5.65, the pricing was reasonable for a once a week treat. If you’re looking for a little treat after surviving that lecture, this is for you.
Peppermint Patty – 3.5/5 Stars
Peppermint mochas have become my holiday drink of choice this year, and Big Cat’s stack up to the rest. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite, but it’s a repeat order for me. It does miss a couple half-stars because it loses the chocolate taste to the milk and peppermint. Best ordered hot for $5.65.
Gingerbread Latte – 3/5 Stars
The Gingerbread Latte was delicious, but I likely would not order it again as it is not my preferred flavor profile. It was full of delicious spices and would probably pair well with some cookies. It’s not my favorite but it’s still well-made. At $5.65, it’s a steal for this craft drink if you love allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg.
