It’s finally time to celebrate Halloween after the stress of midterms. But there’s just one problem… you never figured out what to dress up as this year.
Do not fret! I’ve gathered some fun ideas based on your astrology sign to get you the best dressed award at Halloween parties.
Aries
Aries is known for their strong sense of personality. An easy costume to pull together can be a devil or a clown. With both of these characters, Aries can play into their good and evil sides on Halloween.
If you’re looking for something a little more unique, a faun or satyr costume might be the right fit. Fauns are mythical creatures with the upper body of a human, but the lower body of a goat. Like the sign of Aries, a ram, these creatures both have horns, long ears and a tail. Aries are assertive and courageous; they are anything but dull, making this a fun and authentic costume for Aries to dress as on Halloween.
Taurus
If a Tauran is looking for an easy costume this year, a vampire might be a good choice. Just like the sign of Taurus, vampires are beautiful, headstrong, do not like to give up and are both associated with the throat and neck.
If a vampire costume doesn’t feel right, try being a dragon. Dragons are strong warriors and can be greedy over their keep, like the stereotypical view of a Taurus: possessive and self-indulgent.
For a costume that you probably won’t see anyone else wearing, go for King Midas, known for the Midas touch. Taurans can dust their fingers gold and dress in ancient Greek royal attire. The costume would make for a fun night of royal decrees and fear of the golden touch.
Gemini
A fun and easy costume for a Gemini could be a classic French mime. Though it might be hard for a Gemini to stay quiet, they will still be able to produce a great many laughs through pantomiming on Halloween night.
The Lorax from the Dr. Suess story is an easy costume, as all you need is face paint, an orange bodysuit and a whole lot of cotton to stuff your belly. Now, this costume may not be very one of a kind anymore, but it will surely cause a hoot.
Something less represented this year is a pin-up girl from the 1950s. Make yourself look more glamorous by dressing as a 1950s star like the famous Gemini icon, Marilyn Monroe.
Cancer
For my fellow Cancerians, an easy but iconic look will always be a shark. Similar to the linked symbol, the crab, sharks can be easy going but fierce if provoked. Plus, everyone loves Katy Perry’s halftime show icon, Left Shark.
Another look that might be seen a lot this year is the oh-so-darling Princess Fiona from “Shrek.” Fiona has insecurities about her ogre looks, but like Cancers, she nurtures and reassures others.
Medusa is a great costume for Cancerians looking for something to outshine others, show a little heart or a little revenge. Medusa has snakes as hair and eye contact that can turn others into stone. I can see more nonchalant Cancerians wearing sunglasses with their Medusa costumes as well.
Leo
An obvious but easy costume for Leos is to be a cat. If you don’t want to be so simple, follow your zodiac’s symbol and dress like a fierce lion.
Perhaps you want to play into your energy and become a pirate for the night. Spiff up the costume by dressing as well-known pop-culture pirates like Black Beard or Jack Sparrow.
Leos can easily fit the look for a Greek god or goddess. Leos are generous and courageous; they love to create stories and have fun. These zesty characters are something that Leos will have a lot of fun playing into, not to add Leo’s eccentric beauty will perfectly fit that of a god.
Virgo
A DIY costume to complement these Virgos’ enjoyment of quality and comfort is an elf. I was originally thinking of a high elf, however, Virgos can play into anxieties and can create a scary or creepy elf too.
A “Despicable Me” minion is also a good fit for Virgos looking for something sillier. Minions, like Virgo, enjoy hard work and achieving a goal.
An amazing idea for Virgos is to dress as the flamboyant, evil character Oogie Boogie. Oogie is basically a sack filled with bugs who loves to gamble. His cruel behavior is something Virgos might take joy in for the evening to let go of their perfect tendencies.
Libra
Libras are known to be considerate, but at times complacent. They can play into this dualism by dressing as Snoopy for Halloween. Snoopy is a sweet but sometimes bratty dog whose dog ears can easily be crafted at home.
Another creature Libra might like to dress up as for Halloween is a scarecrow. Scarecrows have a balance between looking amiable but also frightening away crows.
Lastly, a costume that can’t be outdone is a plague doctor. The black mask in the shape of a bird’s face was made to protect doctors from illness but has become a symbol of death and fear. This is a costume that is very versatile as a Halloween scare.
Scorpio
A go-to costume for Scorpio is Cupid. With Scorpios’ perceptive minds, Cupid is a perfect fit for Scorpios to create new passions on Halloween.
Scorpios can also be possessive and resentful. Halloween is a perfect time to play into this and dress as a medieval warrior.
If you’re looking for something more striking, look no further than the Hex Girls from Scooby Doo, a band of goths whose music actually uses spell books in order to Hex their listeners. The members of the Hex Girls are fabulously dressed, and you can go with a group of friends.
Sagittarius
A simple Halloween costume that Sagittarians might like is a fox. Cunning and playful, foxes know what their prey is and are in it for the long haul, just like Sagittarians.
Or, with one quick trip to Spirit Halloween, a Sagittarian could easily pull off Spiderman. Spiderman is adaptable but also worries about his responsibilities as a superhero, perfect for Sagittarians’ idealism.
Sagittarians find it difficult to decline a request, and love to bring people together. The sign for Sagittarius is an archer, making Robin Hood the perfect costume for Sagittarians. Robin Hood is renowned for stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, this can become a fun quirk for Sagittarians dressed as Robin Hood to play on for the night.
Capricorn
An easy costume for Capricorns is a bunny. Like the bunny, Capricorns are overcautious but practical, and with a bit of time make for sweet and loyal friends.
Another costume that can easily be put together at home is the Grim Reaper. Be it scary or simple, Grim Reapers are just there to do their soul-taking job.
If you’re looking for something more out there, think about dressing as a Viking. Vikings are a great fit for Capricorns as they have a sense of justice blended with their need for honor.
Aquarius
For Aquarians there’s always the stereotypical Aquarius alien costume, but I wanted to go a bit further and explore some other ideas like a fairy or skeleton.
A fairy can play on Aquarius’s loving nature, or if you want to be more mischievous and arrogant, there’s similarly a pixie. As for skeletons, these are creatures that can be versatile and uncompromising.
Another classic for Halloween is Beetle Juice. Beetle Juice is charismatic and conniving. Aquarians can use their objectivity and openness to create a fun Halloween character.
Pisces
Because Pisces is a water sign and deeply tied to the sea and shell creatures, a mermaid is a perfect costume idea. To be more on the nose, you could customize your look to be the Starbucks siren as well.
Another popular costume that fits Pisces’ selflessness and courage is a cowboy.
Lastly, I’ve picked Frankenstein’s monster. When it comes to the literary text, this monster is quite misunderstood. Pisces, like Frankenstein’s monster, are sensitive intellects but can become people-pleasers.
