MMA fighter and UCCS graduate hired to fill vacant role in Student Life

Former UCCS student Christopher Lalone was hired as the student engagement operations professional for Student Life in the spring 2025 semester.

Lalone graduated in fall 2024 with a bachelor’s in communication and media studies and is a professional MMA fighter. During his time as a student, he worked as an orientation administrative assistant while fighting on the Team USA kickboxing team, winning multiple international titles and becoming a two-time Pan American champion.

“I have a competition coming up, so I’m still very active in that, and UCCS has kind of given me the opportunity to be able to do both, so I think that’s something I am very grateful for,” Lalone said.

According to Lalone, he is responsible for supporting all events that are student-led or university-funded and other community events, including supporting the organization process and emceeing events like spring 2025 Clydechella

A connected community member rooted in Colorado Springs, Lalone says he has the means to connect students to clubs and other resources they may need.

“College is more than just the classroom. It’s a social experience. It’s a learning experience, so I want to do everything in my power to make sure everything runs smoothly,” Lalone said.

Lalone’s goals are deeply engrained in the community and student experience, and he encourages all students to enjoy college to the fullest. Lalone’s office is located in the student life lounge.
