What to expect at UCCS’ first Clydechella

For anyone who missed Coachella, UCCS has it at home. Clydechella, an outdoor music festival featuring three artists, will be held in Alpine Village on Thursday, April 24.

The concert will run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on the San Juan Quad. Indie band Almost Monday will headline the event, with supporting performances from Chasyn and DJ Viaza.

No ticket is required for the concert. For admission, students will scan their UCCS barcode. All students are allowed to bring a guest.

The concert “combines good vibes, good food and good music,” according to Student Engagements Professional Christopher Lalone. Lalone will emcee the event, and he encourages all students to attend: “It is college. Do everything … you are paying money to be here, you might as well get the full experience.”

In addition to musical performances and food, the festival will have lawn activities such as face painting, flower crown making and glitter tattoos. This is the first spring concert that Student Life has modeled after the popular music festival Coachella.

Here are the artists attendees can expect to see on Thursday.

Opener: Chasyn

Chasyn is from Denver, Colorado, and specializes in pairing electronic music with live performance elements. His performance style is different than typical EDM artists. “[I like to] pull people on the stage and do different things,” he said.

At Clydechella, Chasyn plans to try new performance elements, such as a new device that will incorporate audience participation in a creative way. “Definitely plan on me bringing a few people onstage to play as instruments,” he said.

Chasyn looks forward to performing at Clydechella and connecting with students on the UCCS campus.

Headliner: Almost Monday

Almost Monday is a band based out of Southern California that writes songs in the indie pop style. They “bottle California sunshine in their funky basslines, ecstatic choruses and danceable grooves,” according to their website.

Almost Monday went viral on TikTok during the pandemic and has sustained a devoted fan base in the years since. They will headline Clydechella before they start the second leg of their 2025 DIVE tour, which was recently announced on the band’s Instagram.

DJ: DJ Viaza

DJ Viaza has been mixing beats in her dorm room at CSU over the past year. She is a prominent DJ in the Fort Collins music scene. DJ Viaza described her music as “a range of all EDM, from house music to Brazilian funk, and then some techno.”

DJ Viaza is looking forward to performing at Clydechella and encourages people to send her new music. “I’m always looking for song recommendations. If I have a song, I’ll play it,” she said.
