There’s no better way to kick off the holidays than with a McDonald’s meal that comes with paper-thin socks and pickled flavored food … right?
On Dec. 2, McDonald’s released their Grinch meal, an adult-sized happy meal that comes with a pair of socks, your choice of either a Big Mac or nuggets, fries coated in pickle salt and a drink.
All of this comes at a price of $13.19 from the Garden of the Gods location just off campus. But, for this price, is it all worth it?
The meal comes in a festive Grinch box. I got the nugget meal, and the Grinch box did not have anything special about it. However, the fries came with a packet of “Grinch salt.” You are given an extra bag to put your fries and the salt in, which is very convenient for shaking up the fries and mixing in the pickle flavored salt.
Unfortunately, the salt was way too overwhelming. The flavor was great; it genuinely tasted like pickles, but on the other hand, it was too powdery. At one point, I coughed taking a bite into the pickle salt. It has the consistency of powdered sugar, which was really off-putting for me.
Inside of the box you will find your socks in a bag, and from opening them, you could instantly tell these were socks made by McDonald’s. They are cheap, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend wearing them on your feet unless you want a rash. However, it was still fun to open, and I did enjoy the design on the socks.
In the end, for $13.19, I’d still say it’s worth the go. Even though the pickle fries were too much, you could just use less of the packet for a more enjoyable experience. And somehow, even with pickle flavored food, it still put me in the holiday spirit.
