The Office of Sustainability is sponsoring a winter clothing drive through Dec. 12 to donate to The PLACE, an organization that provides support to homeless youth aged 15-24.
Students can donate coats, jackets, hats, gloves, warm socks, winter boots and other winter essentials. According to Zach Leach, a program manager at the Office of Sustainability, the drive is an opportunity for students to make an impact in the UCCS and Colorado Springs community.
“[Donations are] helping people that are usually in a less fortunate position than you are. You have the privilege to be in college, and some of these people are struggling at home, and they’re the same age as you, or younger… and hopefully that’d make [students] feel good knowing they’re helping people,” Leach said.
Donation bins are located in La Plata dorms, Monarch dorms, the Sustainability Demonstration House and the University Center.
