The men’s basketball team lost their final regular season game against Regis, 67-56, on March 1. The team celebrated their graduating seniors, forward William Becker and guard Hannes Sarr, prior to the game’s start.
Regis got away with the lead for the first 3 minutes of the half, but a free throw from Becker helped UCCS tie the game, 6-6. UCCS then took the lead and kept it for the rest of the half. A 3-pointer from Ranger Jalen Brown 5 minutes into the second half gave the lead to Regis, 43-42.
With 13 minutes left in the game, Becker went out with a knee injury and returned to the sideline with crutches. The Mountain Lions were unable to regain control, losing 67-56.
Despite not playing for most of the second half, Becker led the team with 19 points, while sophomore guard Xavier Martinez followed close behind with 17 points.
The Mountain Lions will play Regis again on March 4 in the RMAC Championship tournament quarterfinals.
