Resolving account holds blocking registration

Course registration for the spring 2026 semester begins on Oct. 27, but students with holds on their accounts cannot register until the hold is lifted.

Students can review their holds by logging into their UCCS portal, going to the Student Center, and clicking on “Tasks” which includes a to-do list and applicable holds.

There are three common holds that can block students from registering: missing certain credentials for enrollment, missing certain immunization records and a past due balance, according to the Office of Registrar’s website.

Missing credentials for enrollment

Freshman can be missing an official high school transcript and undergraduate students transferring to UCCS or graduate students enrolling can miss an official finalized college transcript.

This happens because many admissions are based on transcripts that are either unofficial or in-progress. Final official transcripts should be emailed to the Admissions Office at [email protected]. High school transcripts should include a graduation date.

Students can obtain the official transcripts by contacting their college counselor or the Admissions Office at their previous school.

Students with more questions can contact the Admissions Office via email or by calling (719) 255-3084.

Missing immunization records

Students can be missing the meningococcal ACWY and/or MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination records. All students are required to have proof of the MMR vaccine, and students living on campus must submit proof of a meningococcal ACWY vaccine that has been administered in the last five years.

The meningococcal vaccine protects against meningococcal disease which is caused by serogroups A, C, W and Y. Meningococcal disease can cause meningitis — an infection of the lining of the brain and spinal cord — and other blood infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps and rubella, all of which can cause life-long health complications ranging from arthritis to brain damage, according to the CDC

Typically, these vaccinations are administered before the age of 18; however, unvaccinated students can receive vaccinations from their primary health care provider or the Wellness Center.

Vaccinated students should submit immunization records via their Wellness Center portal. Students can obtain their records via their medical provider or former school. Additional options to prove immunization can be found here

Students can contact the Wellness Center for more information or to schedule an appointment at (719) 255-4444 or via email at [email protected].

Past due balance

Past due balances greater than $500 will prevent students from registering for courses but balances less than $500 have no effect on registration.

Students can resolve this hold by paying their bill completely or reducing their balance to $500 or below. Students can also enroll in a payment plan.

Students can contact Student Financial Services via email at [email protected] or by calling (719) 255-3391.

A complete list of student holds, including the reason, impact, how to resolve and who to contact for additional help can be found here.
