As an avid lover of the performing arts — and, on occasion, going somewhere other than work and class — I am a big fan of the free music and affordable theatre shows hosted by the Visual and Performing Arts department at UCCS.
These student shows highlight similar talent at a fraction of the price of other theaters. UCCS students can contact the Ent Center Box Office at [email protected] or 719- 225-8181 for free tickets to the following events.
- March 5: There will be a junior voice recital by Chloe Brokering and a senior voice recital by Makenzie Summers at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- March 19: There will be junior piano recitals by Aura Quinones and Brett Gray at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 3: Aaron Gohlke will have a senior composition recital at 7:30 pm in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 9: JJ Maynell will have a junior guitar recital, and Levi Pacione will have a senior production recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 15: There will be a junior voice recital by Saturn Mitchell and a senior voice recital by Avenay Jackson at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 17: Akyl Wilburn will have a senior composition recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 21: Kevin Luc will have a senior production recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 22: Noah Cardozo will have a senior production recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 29: There will be a junior composition recital by Autumn Choate and a senior composition recital by Jadon Cruzan at 7:30 pm in Chapman Recital Hall.
- April 30: Joshua Abernathy and Cooper Gorospe with have senior guitar recitals at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- May 7: Tessandra Rosenthal will have a senior composition recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
- May 13: Laura Stephen will have a senior composition recital at 7:30 p.m. in Chapman Recital Hall.
Theater & Dance Events
“Marie Antoinette” will run March 13-26 and be directed by Max Schulman. The show shares a new perspective on the French Revolution and commentates on the forces of history and what it means to revolt. The show will be performed in the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theatre.
Assistant Professor of Dance Rosely Cońz will produce “Uncharted,” an original dance show in collaboration with Ormao Dance Company. Dancers will perform Chuck Wilt’s work on the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theatre stage.
The semester will close with “Blithe Spirit,” a show that follows a wealthy couple in World War II England who invite a medium over for a sėance, only to accidentally summon the husband’s first wife. This show, directed by Ellie Myers, will run from April 25 to May 4 in the Osborne Studio Theatre.
