SGA announces 2018 election results

Following four weeks of campaigning, the results for the 2018 Student Government Associations have been announced.

This year, 1,683 students voted in the election, according to a message announcing the election results sent to all student emails. According to the announcement, this year’s turnout was one of the highest that SGA has seen in a yearly election.

The results, which include student input on various senatorial candidates, vice president and president, three ballot initiatives and educator of the year, are included below:

Executive Branch

President and Vice President: Sierra Brown and Laveen Khoshnaw (38.50 percent of the vote)

Director of Finance: Raven Chavez-Maltby (85 percent of the vote)

Legislative Branch

Senator of Business: Lance Peltier (83.48 percent of the vote)

Senator of Engineering: Nicolas Nava (86.10 percent of the vote)

Senator of Innovation: Victoria Crowley (47.77 percent of the vote)

Senator of LAS: Lisa Hinton (84.08 percent of the vote)

Senator of Multicultural Affairs: Adeoluwa Remi-Afonja (53.12 percent of the vote)

Senator of Sustainability: Grant Barnes (78.19 percent of the vote)

Senators at Large: Audrey Mossman, Breana Arnold, Grant Nelson, Stephen Holmes, Justin Jones

Referenda

Media Fee: Passed (46.88 percent of the vote)

Green Action Fee: Passed (67.97 percent of the vote)

Safety and Transportation Fee: Passed (68.63 percent of the vote)

Educator of the Year

Majority abstained (36.54 percent of the vote)

Sabine Allenspace (9.69 percent of the vote)
