SGA Meeting Minutes 10/3: New justice appointed, funding guidelines discussed.

The Student Government Association executive council held a meeting Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss business relating to appointing new positions, budget, and events.

Jacob Bostick has been appointed as a new justice within the judicial branch.

Senatorial vacancies were also filled. Emily Barberding as the new senator of sustainability, Franklin Goodwin as the senator of education, and Connor McCormick as the senator of innovation on Sept. 21.

The Director of Finance Holly Moerschel discussed a new media fee with the radio sub-committee on Oct. 3 and 5.

Modifications are being made to funding proposal paperwork in order to make the language clearer and plans on tackling funding guidelines later on.

President Joey Vijayam plans on creating a system to make DACA information more available to students who need it, and plans on advertising it.

Vijayam also started discussion with the Rec Center to install lights on the trail between Village at Alpine Valley and Summit Village in order to make it more recreational.

There are plans in the works to create a delegation system to each of the clubs at UCCS in order to open up communication channels between the clubs and SGA.

The Student Health and Wellness Committee held an event for Alcohol Awareness month.

Bills that passed include SB-04, “Journey to Africa,” passed with majority approval and one recusal; SB-03, “DACA Fundraiser,” passed with majority approval, with one vote against; and SB-05, “Formula SAE Electric Competition,” with majority approval, one vote against, and one recusal.

Psi Chi received $640.27, the American Sign Language Club received $1,981.13 and the UCCS Tennis Club received $2150 by unanimous approval.

The Ski and Ride Club received $475 for travel expenses with a 10-2 approval, and HyperFalcos received $243 for food and beverage with a 9-3 approval.
