Staff Picks: Favorite things to come from Ireland

Each year, St. Patrick’s Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate Ireland and all the wonderful things that have come from it. It is a place where, unlike Colorado, the grass is actually green and festive.

The Scribe staff share their favorite people and things that have come from the country, from family and actors to TV shows and good food.

Zee O’Donnell | Co-Editor-in-Chief

The shirt my (Irish) grandpa gave me when I was 2 that says “Drink Till She’s Irish” with a lady holding beer on it. Also, shoutout to the Irish goodbye.

Joseph Impellitteri | Co-Editor-in-Chief

The movie “71.”

Ellie Myers | Associate Editor

I love me some “Derry Girls.” I also love sea shanties — not all of those come from Ireland, but many great ones do.

Tori Smith | Managing Editor

“DERRY GIRLS.” It’s my favorite TV show. Also, Nicola Coughlan specifically.

Grace Brajkovich | News Editor

My favorite thing from Ireland is the Shamrock Shake.

Kaylie Foster | Features Editor

Scribe Co-Editor in Chief Zee O’Donnell.

Lillian Davis | Sports Editor and Photo Editor

2023 Irish Derby winner Auguste Rodin.

Kate Marlett | Copy Editor

Colm Meaney, who was Chief Miles O’Brien on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He portrayed one of the greatest Star Trek characters ever and contributed so much to the franchise!

Livi Davis | Reporter

Apparently chocolate milk was invented by an Irish guy, so yeah, it’s gotta be that.

Ava Knox | Reporter

My favorite Irish person is Andrew Scott, though I am sure it’ll pass.

Noah March | Reporter

Cillian Murphy.

Rhianna Smith-Burns | Reporter
