Happy Halloween! It’s time to carve pumpkins, eat candy and watch scary movies. In preparation for the highly anticipated holiday, five students answered questions about their favorite parts of Halloween and this year’s plans.
Colbie Miller, freshman computer science major (she/her)
What have you done to get into the spooky spirit this season?
I’ve [eaten] a lot of candy, and I partook in Trunk or Treat. I’m the vice president of the Ski and Ride Club, so we went to Trunk or Treat and handed out candy to people within the community. I carved a Snoopy pumpkin.
What are your plans for celebrating Halloween?
We just got invited to this dog’s birthday party. I was an honorable invite. My birthday’s the day before Halloween, so it’s an obligation for me to be spooky. I’ll probably pass out candy.
Are you dressing up? If so, as what?
I’ve already dressed up for Trunk or Treat as just a snowboarder. If I dress up as anything, it’s just going to be a snow bunny, so the same costume with bunny ears.
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, specifically the bats.
Julianna Fricke, freshman sports management major (she/her)
What have you done to get into the spooky spirit this season?
I decorated my dorm. I have spiders — lots of money was spent at Walmart — stickers, the window sticky thingies all over my door. I have a sign on the outside.
What are your plans for celebrating Halloween?
I’m going home to Thorton to spend it with my boyfriend, I think.
Are you dressing up? If so, as what?
We were thinking about it, but I don’t know.
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
The candy corn pumpkins.
Sydney White Burst, freshman psychology major (she/her)
What have you done to get into the spooky spirit this season?
I’ve gotten a lot of Halloween Dutch Bros stickers.
What are your plans for celebrating Halloween?
Oh God, I don’t know. Julianna’s leaving, so I’m probably just going to stay at home.
Are you dressing up? If so, as what?
I’ll just say yes for the fun of it. We’re going to do “Cars.” We have three roommates, so we’re going to do Lightning McQueen, Sally and Mater. It’s in the works.
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
Candy corn pumpkins.
Eli Thomas, freshman game development major (he/him)
What have you done to get into the spooky spirit this season?
Hung up a skeleton outside our dorm door and bought a costume.
What are your plans for celebrating Halloween?
I’m going to go back to my hometown up in Arvada with my friends, and we’re going to do a little party.
Are you dressing up? If so, as what?
Me and my girlfriend are dressing up as Vikings.
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
I would have to say peppermint patties.
Kayla Thompson, museum studies major (she/her)
What have you done to get into the spooky spirit this season?
Watched a lot of scary movies.
What are your plans for celebrating Halloween?
Maybe going to a couple parties with my friends.
Are you dressing up? If so, as what?
Yes, I am. I don’t know what I’m going to be yet. I know, it’s last minute.
What is your favorite Halloween treat?
I think Snickers.
