Women’s basketball falls short of RMAC title with loss against Regis University, 76-64

The UCCS women’s basketball team played for the RMAC Championship title on March 9 against #2 Regis University and lost 76-64.

The Mountain Lions shot a respectable 37% from the field throughout the game, but were immensely outshot at the free throw line, 43-7. This was the first game this season in which UCCS allowed two players to shoot 16 or more free throws in the same game.

Junior forward Maison White led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 16 points and added 16 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Junior guard Emily Vidal was the second-leading scorer with 14 points followed by junior guard Amyah Moore Allen who finished with 12 points and three assists.

On Sunday, the NCAA DII committee did not include the Mountain Lions in their 32-team tournament, effectively ending the season for UCCS. The Mountain Lions finished the season at 23-8, including an 18-4 record in the RMAC and a 14-2 home record.
