Candidates announced for 2025 SGA election  

There are 20 students running for positions in the upcoming SGA election. Two students are running for president and four senators are running for reelection. 

On Feb. 17, SGA had a mandatory candidate meeting for students interested in running for office for the 2025-2026 school year. At this meeting, Election Commissioner Eden Kidanee, Chief Justice Savoy Garey and Associate Chief Justice Kamillah Ameen walked candidates through the election process and the new election policy.  

President and Vice President Candidates 

Vice President Aiden Burke is running for president in this election, with Senator of Innovation Isabella Polombo as a running mate. 

Senator of Multicultural Affairs Ben Moses is also running for president, with Asher Early, senator of clubs, organizations and Greek life, as a running mate. 

Other positions 

There are 14 students running for senator positions, four of which are existing senators. Senator of Commuter Students Brittany Ihemamere, Senator at Large Chi Idika, Senator of Multicultural Affairs Emmanuella Appiah and Senator of Engineering and Applied Science Shivani Sharma are running for re-election. 

The remaining 10 candidates are new to SGA: 

  • Walat Gozeh, majoring in political science, is running for senator at large. 
  • Joseph “Joe” Bate, majoring in physics, is running for senator at large. 
  • Catalina Clay, majoring in psychology and sociology, is running for senator at large. 
  • Stefan Hoffmann, majoring in philosophy and political science, is running for senator at large.   
  • Cienna Daniels, majoring in Business Administration, is running for senator of the college of business. 
  • BreAnna Braker, majoring in biomedical sciences, is running for senator of the college of nursing and health sciences.  
  • Olivia Abeyta, majoring in psychology and criminal justice, is running for senator of clubs, organizations and Greek life.  
  • Skylaa Van Linn, majoring in communication, is running for senator of military affairs.  
  • Teri Kear, majoring in elementary education, is running for senator of the college of education.  
  • Evan Martin, majoring in aerospace engineering, is running for the senator of engineering and applied science.  

Jordan Vasconcellos is the sole candidate running for Director of Finance.  

Upcoming election events: 

  • On March 5, there will be an event for students to meet the candidates in the Student Life Lounge from noon – 1 p.m. The debate will be that evening from 6 – 8 p.m.  
  • Election week is March 10 – 14, with the polls opening at 8 a.m. on Monday and closing at 4 p.m. on Friday.  
  • If necessary, there will be an infraction hearing on March 17.
