Cosmic weather forecast: Sagittarius Season

Scorpio season was intense to say the least, so it should come as a source of comfort to know it is o-v-e-r. That’s right, it’s time to wave goodbye to the crises and drama of Scorpio, and welcome in the optimism and fun of Sagittarius.

Sagittarius season, which runs from Nov. 21 through Dec. 21, is a season of big goals, big plans and big parties with friends. It’s no coincidence that Thanksgiving and Black Friday — two days devoted to extreme excess — take place during Sagittarius season. The sign is all about thinking, living and doing things in a grand way.

The Sun in Sagittarius also gives us permission to shoot for the stars. During this time of the year, we are insatiably curious and eager to explore new ways of thinking. We’re also itching to make new connections with people from faraway lands.

True to its restless nature, Sagittarius Season is not without some excitement. So, without further ado, here’s your cosmic weather forecast for the 2021 Sagittarius Season.

Starting Nov. 24 Mercury enters Sagittarius, and our thoughts are as fickle as they are outrageous. We’re primarily concerned with long-range goals during this time, and many of us might be making holiday travel or graduation plans. The rest of us seek to travel via the imagination and will be apt to dust off those epic fantasy books we didn’t finish over summer break.

On Dec. 1, Neptune, the planet of illusions and dreams, turns direct in Pisces. Though its effects won’t be drastic, Neptune direct will reverse what has been muddy, delusional or downright confusing. Inspiration is rekindled, and we are better in tune with our intuition and can think more creatively.

The Sagittarius Solar Eclipse on Dec. 4 sees us contemplating major changes for our long-term goals (e.g. should I really travel to India or go after a Ph.D.?). These changes should stay unacted for the time being. Mercury is close to burning up, thanks to its close proximity to the Sun and Moon. This makes clear thinking impossible.

Come Dec. 13, Mercury enters Capricorn and Mars enters Sagittarius. Mercury in Capricorn gives us the mental organization and responsibility we need to make it through finals week. Mars in Sagittarius also boosts our energy levels and gives us the itch to explore new ideas and spaces; travel is practically guaranteed.

The Full Moon in Gemini on Dec. 18 marks the end of eclipse season, but it may mirror the emotional intensity of a lunar eclipse. Saturn and Uranus are moving closer toward a tense butting of heads, which may spark feelings of frustration and insecurity.

The tense aspect between Mercury and Chiron, the asteroid of wounds, furthers these frustrated, self-doubting feelings. Venus lines up with Pluto, the planet of transformation, calling us to make major renovations to our relationships. (If only life were so simple.)

On Dec. 19, Venus turns retrograde in Capricorn. This forces us to take a long, sober look at our relationships. Do your values align with those of your partner?

If single, retrograde Venus in Capricorn prompts a self-examination: Are you showing up enough for yourself? Also, be mindful of the holiday gifts purchased. They might see the return shelf before they make it under any Christmas tree.
