A crash left one motorcyclist dead and another person injured on Austin Bluffs Parkway near the UCCS campus Tuesday night, according to Colorado Springs police.
The crash was reported just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Austin Bluffs and Mallow Road by Colorado Springs Christian School. Police said one vehicle and one motorcycle were involved in the crash.
The motorcyclist died on the scene and another person was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The motorcyclist has not been publicly identified, but was not affiliated with UCCS, Assistant Director of Communications Jenna Press confirmed Wednesday. CSPD’s major crash team is investigating.
According to a Tweet from CSPD communications, eastbound Austin Bluffs from South Nevada Avenue to Mallow Road was closed Tuesday night after the crash. Northbound Mallow to Austin Bluffs was also closed.
This motorcycle fatality comes one year after a man died in a car-motorcycle collision at the nearby intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Regent Circle in September 2021.
