Meeting agenda from boarddocs.com

A Strategic Vision Framework workshop was held for UCCS on March 7. The goal of these workshops is to create a unified vision for the CU campuses.

Input collected from each campus will be brought together and voted upon at the June 15-16 Board of Regents meeting. A website was developed to continue to collect feedback on the CU vision: cu.edu/strategicvision.

Emerging themes in this vision include: accessibility of higher education, undergraduate and graduate research, innovation, preparing students for an uncertain future and a positive culture.

The Student Government Association unanimously passed a resolution to thank members of the UCCS campus police and Colorado Springs Police and Fire Department to show support for first response teams and to honor Officer Garrett Swasey.

UCCS is proposing to buy a 1,426 square-foot house at 4010 Regent Circle to provide short-term housing for TheatreWorks visiting artists. The house has a 77 square-foot basement, two bedrooms and three baths. The property will cost approximately $297,000.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Lightner proposed to eliminate a section of Article 8 from Regent Laws and Policies that states a minimum length for fall and spring semesters, arguing that the law is outdated and doesn’t consider other semester types.

The chancellor search committee will interview candidates this week, and finalists are expected to visit the campus the week of April 24. CU President Bruce Benson will select the finalists from a list of recommendations made by the search committee.

Community members will have the opportunity to meet the finalists and provide online feedback to Benson, who will select the chancellor this summer.
