SCRIBBLE: 60 songs better than ‘WAP’

Let’s face it, no disrespect to Cardi B or Megan Thee Stallion, but “WAP” is a bad song, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter how many times I hear it, or how high it ranks on the Billboard Hot 100, I cannot for the life of me understand why people think it’s such a hit.

If you’re like me, you like to jam to just about any beat that is on the radio. Pop, rock, country, R&B, classical…you name it. As an avid music lover, I would argue that about 85% of the songs that are out there are actually good songs, and if they aren’t great, then they are at least decent. “WAP” is not one of these songs.

When it comes to this controversial song, I could not really care less about the content itself; that is not the primary thing that bothers me. In my opinion, the beat of “WAP” is mediocre at best and the words themselves are more repetitive than Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” By the time I am through listening to the song, all I can think about is figuring out a way to bleach my brain and erase it.

I’m all for risqué music and women’s empowerment, but I feel like there are literally billions of songs that have a better rhythm and melody than the overhyped “WAP.” With that being said, I have taken the liberty of putting together a playlist of songs for people who are looking for alternatives to the example of musical trash I’ve mentioned above.

Rather than “WAP,” I highly recommend for you to play these for your S/O on your next date night. They certainly set the mood in more ways than one!
