Purple is a dynamic color that ranges from the palest shades of lavender to the deepest shades of violet. Purple is sometimes associated with royalty because, in ancient times, purple dye was expensive and could only be afforded by kings and queens. In modern times, purple is often associated with luxury, romance and spirituality. In some cultures, purple is the color of mourning.
